Screaming Eagle is an abstract, impressionistic work that rises from ocean to sky, a glorious and extravagant homage to the 101st Airborne Division—the Screaming Eagles—who leapt into the unknown, risking everything for freedom and the lives of others. Textured layers of blues and purples swirl with the light of sky and sun, while flashes of red honor the bloodshed and sacrifice endured. Clouds and currents of pigment evoke the winds of war, the thrill and peril of flight, and the soaring spirit of courage. Through this impression, the painting also honors all the men and women who live on and continue the fight for justice, freedom, and peace. The artist’s intention was to remember and celebrate these brave souls, including her own father, now laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery, whose heroic story of glory and sacrifice lives on, while capturing the heroism, resilience, and enduring legacy of a generation that dared to rise above fear, leaving a testament of valor, hope, and honor.
